MBMHC Goals

Goals:
-develop a model for modern Eco friendly living communities: develop ways to live in the future by looking to the past... Every time we repeat the mistakes of the past the cost gets higher
- develop food forest/ permaculture models/ sustainable land use principles that could be used on a larger scale
- provide education to children and the community pertaining to food production, sustainable land use, and use of natural products
-conduct scientific research pertaining to use of natural products and effects of our living on the land as well as long-term research pertaining to cancer and other potentially environmentally affected conditions
-provide high quality education to children at the homestead as well as offering it to local high-risk children. Long and short term research will be done to assess effects of well rounded hands on high quality education
-improve the environment with sustainable building and land use (using materials from the land as well as some structures using commercially available Eco friendly building materials)
- preserve heritage and heirloom livestock and fruits/ vegetables to preserve species variety and rare/endangered breeds, especially those that are good for small farms and foraging and multipurpose (ie sheep that produce quality wool and breed rapidly for meat production)
- develop models for self-sufficient small group living
- provide high quality, nutritious meals and cooking and gardening classes for local children- collaborate with edible schoolyards project
- provide the community with access to free/ low cost food thru the community garden, community meals, affordable food program, and food donations
